Paola and Pao-Mama are enjoying the summer holidays in California, United States of America. They visited the majestic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. At lunch time they were craving the local delicacy clam chowder at Fisherman’s Wharf in downtown San Francisco. Pao-Mama sees two teenagers with luggage outside the Pier 39 aquarium on the way to the restaurant.
Paola and Pao-Mama finish their hearty bowls of soup and bread. Pao-Mama again notices the teenagers who are now looking stressed. Pao-Mama walks up to them and asks them why they are worried. Pao-Mama realizes they are tourists visiting from another country who are unable to speak English. They do not have any of the local currency of dollars. Pao-Mama uses the translator app on her phone to communicate with the tourists. Pao-Mama learns that they need to go to Palo Alto city to visit their relatives who work at a technology company in the Silicon Valley which is another name for the San Francisco Bay Area. Pao-Mama hires a local cab for the tourists and gives them enough dollars to pay for the ride. Both teenagers appreciate the kind gesture and thank Pao-Mama using the translator app.
Paola learns the importance of observing people around us and offering a helping hand to the ones in need. When did you last notice that someone around you needed help and what did you do about it?
