The Pao family visit their family friends, Tahir and Yasmin Aliyev, and their children Aysil and Yousef in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is located at the boundary of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. The Pao and Aliyev families begin their adventure in Old City, Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. They visit the famous 12th century monument, Maiden Tower which is also called Giz Galasi. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and shows the presence of Zoroastrians, Arabs, Persians, and Russians.
The Pao and Aliyev families travel to the rural Ganja area where they meet farmer Ali who is a friend of Tahir. Ali welcomed them to his farm and showed them his crops including juicy tomatoes, fragrant herbs, and sweet fruits. Aysil, Yousef, Paolo and Paola helped Ali pick fruits from the trees. The kids experience the hard work that goes into farming which helps them gain more appreciation for the food they eat. Ali then assists his neighbor, Huseyn, to move a large bale of hay and gives him some fruits that the kids helped pick. Ali mentions to the kids how grateful his family is for the harvest abundance which they share with neighbors after keeping enough for themselves.
Paola observes how thoughtful Ali was to help his neighbor complete a challenging task. Paola also learns to have appreciation for the resources available to them and share with people in need. How would you express gratitude for your belongings?
